YOU ARE CREATIVE vs. the Land Rover Freelander 2
Copy Cunts the blog which exposes the advertising industry for the plagiarising bastards that they are revealed the blatant stealing of Taijin Takeuchi’s ‘A Wolf Loves a Pork’ by Flo & Pet (directors) and DSG (agency) for the Olympus PEN ad. In the comments of that post, Speshal posted a further even worse act of cuntishness by Land Rover in which they not only rip off something that has already been ripped off (A Wolf Loves a Pork) but they do it with a quite staggering amount of shitness - I couldn’t find the video online anywhere at present but if someone else can locate a copy I would be grateful. This is the link to the clip on You Tube
My You Tube account is called Slateking and initially I posted words to this effect on the Freelander video.

I noticed that I wasn’t alone in the condemnation of this outrageous bit of plagiarism and even though the video was new and had only received 300 odd views people were already voicing their disapproval.
Not everyone though shared this opinion. Several posters on You Tube had nothing but glowing praise for this piece of donkey turd. This is probably my favourite:

OMG, what a brilliant ad!!!!! What a cool technique, how do they do that??!! Love the music too!
I used to work in viral seeding, community marketing and generally being a dishonest bastard – not something I’m proud of – but consequently know exactly what I’m looking for when it comes to covert marketing tactics and can spot them a mile off. Clearly these were not genuine people.
A click on the profiles of the positive commenters showed they had all been set up on the 18th of August and had only watched one video – the Freelander video on which they commented. So I posted words to this effect.

I also knew however that a recent UK law prohibited such practise by companies online. I was working as a seeder before the law was introduced and it caused a total change in outlook at the agency I was at and probably across the marketing world as a whole. So they weren’t just being cunts, they were being cunts in an illegal way.
The piece of legislation introduced was the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (UCPD), which became law on 26th May 2008. There is a good short concise article about it here, which has plenty of links for further reading.
The bit were interested in is section 22.
It prohibits:
Falsely claiming or creating the impression that the trader is not acting for purposes relating to his trade, business, craft or profession, or falsely representing oneself as a consumer.
Of course this is exactly what the ad agency were doing. So I replied to one of the fake comments on You Tube – by TheBaldieguy - highlighting that they were breaking the law.

I also posted the exact information in the channel comments of rocket21872 who had also been posting fake comments.

Within 30 minutes TheBaldieguy’s account had been closed. I then reported my success in the video comments section.

Returning straight to rocket21872’s account I was not surprised that my comment had been deleted from the users profile.
I then replied to rocket21872 on the video thanking him/her for removing my clearly very informative comment.

It was about midnight by the time all of this had happened and clearly nothing much else was in the pipe line. Amusingly whilst it was unfolding someone else posted a comment saying that watching this video made him ashamed to work in the creative industry.
When I woke up the video was still online. Nothing else had been deleted but by 8.40am the video had been totally removed from You Tube.

You can see a screen grab of the video and the comments in it’s entirety here.
So yeah massive cunts all round.
And sorry for the fact the video is no longer on You Tube. If you watched it it would probably only make you angry anyway.
So If you come across this type of behaviour. This seems to get em pretty scared.
